The course element "Question creation" promotes sustainable learning by encouraging continuous engagement with learning materials and their application.
As part of this course module, students develop their own questions on the subject matter, which are then reviewed by their peers. These questions are not only used to create individual, randomized exams, but also serve as valuable practice material for the students. This collaborative process fosters a deeper understanding of the subject matter and motivates students to engage actively with the learning content.
For lecturers, the course element also provides valuable insights into students' learning progress. It enables them to adapt teaching materials in a targeted manner and respond flexibly to the learners' needs.
The question creation process consists of three main steps:

Creation of the question: Participants enter a question about the learning material and several possible answers in accordance with the task set by the course instructor.

Peer review of the question: The questions are assigned to participants for evaluation in a peer review process. They first answer the question and then evaluate it using the review questions on a Likert scale. The evaluation must be justified in a free text field. After completing the peer reviews, participants can view the feedback they have received on their own question.

Evaluation of the questions: Since it does not always make sense to export all created questions to the question pool – for example for use in an exam – it is possible to filter the questions and organize them so that only high-quality questions are exported.

- Enter the title and description of the assignment
- Select the submission date
- Select the start date (optional)
- Select one or more question types
- Save

Peer Review der Frage
- Enter the submission deadline for the peer review
- Enter one or more review questions
- Enter the number of reviews to be completed per participant

Evaluate the review questions If the “Analysis of the review questions” option is enabled, additional settings for evaluating the reviews can be configured.
Implementation in the course run
- In the tab “Participants” you can check the status of the participants.
- After the deadline for submitting the assignment has passed:
Assign the peer reviews in the Administration” tab. - After the deadline for submitting the peer review has passed:
In the Participants tab, you can check the status of the peer reviews and, if the evaluation options are activated, the evaluation results of the peer review. - Suitable questions can be exported directly to the question pool and further edited there.
