Requirements and known issues

Requirements

In order to be able to use the campus courses, some requirements must be met:

  1. The course in question must be administered by one of the following faculties:
    • Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences,
    • Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics,
    • Faculty of Science,
    • Faculty of Medicine,
    • Faculty of Theology and the Study of Religion.
  2. Furthermore, the following Institutes also offer campus courses:
    • Educational Development (Lehrentwicklung)
    • School for Transdisciplinary Studies (STS)
  3. The lecturer must be listed in the course catalogue of the UZH as a lecturer of the course for which a campus course is to be created. To check this, you can search the course catalogue of UZH with the search tool (magnifier symbol/search). Select the button "Search Modules" and choose "Courses" or "Instructors".
  4. The lecturer has an activated ITIM account and thus has a UZH employee number and a UZH short name.
  5. The lecturer must be registered as an OLAT user with his/her UZH E-Mail address (UZH has to be linked in his/her Switch edu-ID account) and the lecturer has author rights.

Info

If one of the above-mentioned requirements is not met, it is technically not possible to create a campus course for a course!

Tip

If you see a new tab 'Campus Courses' in the main navigation, you can create campus courses.

Possible issues

It can happen that you, the lecturer, do not see the tab "Campus Courses" or that entries are missing there. Reasons for this can be among other things:

  1. Change of university (new at UZH),
  2. A change in the employment relationship (new employment contract and new employee number at UZH → new login),
  3. You (unknowingly) have several OLAT user accounts,
  4. You only registered as an OLAT user a few minutes / hours ago, the next synchronization is still pending,
  5. One of the requirements for creating a campus course (see section "Requirements") has not been met.

Info

For problems 1 to 3, please send a message to OLAT-Support and, if possible, send us a note like "... new at UZH ...", "... already used OLAT ..." or similar.
If you have just registered, please just wait a few hours. The links for the creation usually appear automatically after the next data synchronization in the "Campus courses" tab.

I have already created a course - how can I convert a normal course into a campus course?

To do this, click on the "Create" link in the "Campus courses" tab and select the "Create a campus course by using one of your own courses" option. Use the existing course as a template.

I am a lecturer, but I don't see any possibility of creating campus courses. Why is that?

If you are listed in the UZH course catalogue as lecturer of a course in the current semester, but you see no entries in the menu item "Campus Courses" in OLAT, then OLAT has not yet recognized you as a lecturer. In that case send an email from your UZH email address to OLAT-Support with the following information: Exact course title (as it is in the course catalog) and your OLAT user name. After logging into OLAT, you will see your OLAT user name at the bottom left under "Logged in as". Please also check whether all the requirements for creating your campus course have been met.

I have already created my campus course, but can no longer find it. Where is he?

Campus courses that have already been created can be found in the "Authoring" area under "My learning resources". In addition, a link to your course will also appear in the "Courses" tab under "My courses" because you are registered as the course owner.

The campus course is only visible to the course participants after the status and the access configuration have been set.
