Step 1: create campus course

Lecturers can find a list of their courses under "Campus courses" in the OLAT menu corresponding to their courses listed in the UZH course catalogue. The OLAT campus course can be generated for each item individually by clicking on the "create" link.

Select the course design

The next step is to select the course design. There are three designs to choose from to create a campus course:

Which course design is the right one for me?

Which course design is suitable for you depends primarily on how you want to structure your course didactically. In most cases, the conventional course type is suitable. If you are planning a self-study course or a course that is to be worked through sequentially in a fixed order, the learning path type is best suited. If the order of the learning content does not play a role, but you would like to offer the course participants an overview of how much of the learning content offered has already been worked on individually, the course design of the learning path with learning progress type is an option. If you want to create your Campus course on the basis of an OLAT course you have already created, the course design of the course selected as basis will be used, regardless of course type selected in this step. If your campus course is not to be created on the basis of an existing OLAT course, you will find the most important and most frequently used course elements already preconfigured in a newly created campus course with a conventional design.

Create the campuscourse using the template, using an own course or continue a course

In the next step you can choose from 3 options for creating a campus course:

If you are creating an OLAT course for the very first time, only the first option is suitable for you ("Create standard course with materials folder and communication options").

Create campus courses for the next semester

Starting February 1st , you can create the campus courses for the current spring semester and the following autumn semester.
Starting on August 2nd (national holiday August 1st!) You can create the campus courses for the current fall semester and the following spring semester.

Possible problems

I have already created a course - how can I convert a normal course into a campus course?

To do this, click on the "Create" link in the "Campus courses" tab and select the "Create a campus course by using one of your own courses" option. Use the existing course as a template.

I am a lecturer, but I don't see any possibility of creating campus courses. Why is that?

If you are listed in the UZH course catalogue as lecturer of a course in the current semester, but you see no entries in the menu item "Campus Courses" in OLAT, then OLAT has not yet recognized you as a lecturer. In that case send an email from your UZH email address to OLAT-Support with the following information: Exact course title (as it is in the course catalog) and your OLAT user name. After logging into OLAT, you will see your OLAT user name at the bottom left under "Logged in as". Please also check whether all the requirements for creating your campus course have been met.

I have already created my campus course, but can no longer find it. Where is he?

Campus courses that have already been created can be found in the "Authoring" area under "My learning resources". In addition, a link to your course will also appear in the "Courses" tab under "My courses" because you are registered as the course owner.

The campus course is only visible to the course participants after the status and the access configuration have been set.

Delegation for campus courses

OLAT users who have a delegation of a lecturer are also allowed to create their campus courses.
Would you like a delegation? Contact OLAT Support.
